Our People
Since our first barge took to the waterways more than 75 years ago, we have been guided by the philosophy that people make the difference. We pride ourselves on providing professional services with a personal touch—something that can only come from a diverse, highly skilled and committed team of transportation professionals. The safety of the cargo we move and the overall success of our business is and always will be a direct result of hiring and cultivating the best employees in the business.
By combining our team of exceptional employees with state-of-the-art equipment, we are able to execute a world-class safety program that is compliant with the American Waterways Operators’ Responsible Carrier Program. Adherence to this system has garnered us the highest industry awards for both personal and environmental safety and we are active in many industry organizations that support the continued development of safe maritime practices.
Recognition for our safety and environmental performance includes: Jones F. Devlin Awards and Environmental Achievement Awards from the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA), and two William M. Benkert Awards for Marine Environmental Protection from the U.S. Coast Guard.
Our Business Philosophy and Code of Conduct guide our principles of honoring the mariner, valuing all employees and treating one and all with dignity and respect as members of the CBC family.
